If you live or own property in Wake County, there is no charge for a library card.
If you live outside Wake County, you may get a nonresident library card for a $25 fee. A nonresident card is good for one year. To pay for your nonresident card:
- Pay online: Log in to your library account and pay fees online.
- Pay at the library: Fees can be paid by credit card at library pay stations.
- The online payment portal accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards.
- Pay by mail: If you prefer to pay by check or money order, visit your library’s service desk for a pre-stamped envelope and payment form.
A Wake County Public Libraries card allows you to check out materials from any of our 20+ libraries, use library computers, and access electronic resources and downloadable books.
You may register for a card online. You will get a temporary card number and PIN.
Your temporary number allows you to place holds on print books and books on CD, and use our online resources. You will receive an email when holds are ready.
